Secure your wireless communication

You are here

The Wireless Network is becoming an increasing important tool for internet access. Access points are stationed in a place where it's signal can easily reach as many people to serve them. It is important to secure wireless communication with additional network security such as SSH, VPN, or SSL tunneling and turn off the wireless devices when not in use. Users of wireless in public or home areas are encouraged to turn off wireless to avoid Hackers who are also nearby with different SSIDs that they can use to hack into your network or computer.

Here are four important things to do

Use secure socket layer and transport layer security to safeguard the communication.

  1. Use only protected access with VPN, SSL, or TLS technology.
  2. Restrict the access based on MAC address.
  3. Make sure to turn off the Wi-Fi connection when not in use to avoid unnecessary communication or transmission of data.

How to turn off Wi-Fi connection
•Go to the Start Menu and select Control Panel.
•Click the Network and Internet category and then select Networking and Sharing Centre.
•From the options on the left-hand side, select Change adapter settings.
•Right-click on the icon for Wireless Connection and click enable.
