How to use the true callers recording feature

You are here

By Michael Byarugaba

Truecaller is an app that lets you identify new numbers that call you.

This generation no longer has unknown callers; why should there be, when there is Truecaller? The app has been in existence to safeguard calls and SMS to give you the right to know who is trying to get in contact with you, without any hardships. As long as someone somewhere with a smartphone and the app has their number, you will always know their identity – complete with name and number.

The app is adding a new premium feature to its catalogue for its Android users globally, a call recording tool which has been highly-requested by users thus prompting the app developers to come up with it and combine it into their Premium package. There are hopes of it empowering users to keep track of important conversations they have with businesses, colleagues, and people.

How the feature works

When a Premium user dials or receives a call, they can toggle on the recording feature from the Truecaller ID screen. The recordings are then stored on the user’s phone. Truecaller notes that users without a Prime subscription can get a free 14-day trial of this new feature.

You can enable the call recorder feature by going to Truecallers settings (press on the three-line menu on the upper left corner > settings) > Truecaller call recording > enable Record calls.

Truecaller believes that the feature will assist users in “keeping track of important conversation with business, colleagues.”

Upon subscribing Truecaller Premium, users will get features like Who viewed my profile, ad-free experience, contact requests and premium badge for their profile.

Who viewed my profile is when another user has searched either by number, or name and tapped the detail view of your profile using Truecaller. However, you can opt for the private mode and a user will not be notified that you have looked at their profile.

The call recording feature is designed for Android users around the world with phones running Android 5.0 and above only. It won’t work for Nexus devices, Pixel devices, All Android 7.1.1 devices, and Motorola G4.
